Ways you can get involved
There are many different ways you can help support A Place To Be. From being a volunteer, to a commitee member, or perhaps you could be a guest visitor and share a skill or experience with our children. Of course we are always seeking more funds so that we can continue and improve.
We are enormously grateful to the people and Trusts that have given so generously already.
We are a privately run charity, that relies on the generosity of others to provide young people with the space to enjoy activities and to interact with their peers in a relaxing fun environment.
Do you want to get involved in something good for the community?
Do you want to support the young people in your area?
Do you have 2 hours to give every week or month?
If so, we would love to hear from you!
If you are 18+ and free on a Friday evening between 6.45 and 9.15 please contact us.
You can participate in as much or as little as you like. No experience necessary as you will always be put with an experienced member of the Youth Club team.
Maybe you could help the Tuck shop, or chill out with the young people in a quiet space, perhaps a rowdy game of dodge ball is more your thing, or getting creative dabbling with art & crafts. Whatever your preference we would love to hear from you.
We appreciate that most people won't be able to commit to every Friday - you might only be available for just one Friday every term - and that is more than fine, we will still be so grateful.
''It is hugely rewarding to be engaged with the children, witnessing their enthusiasm, allowing them to thrive and giving them the opportunity to ‘just be’.''
Other Roles to Support Us
Join Our Committee
Supporter Role
Our Committee meets every few months, for about an hour. They help with all the behind the scenes decisions, such as policies and practicalities. They also help find funding and resources. Amongst other things!
If there are any other ways you may be able to support us, we would love to hear from you!

Maybe you can assist with storage, or transport, website design, marketing, sports, gaming equipment. Whatever it is we would love to hear from you..
Share Your Experiences & Skills
Our aim is not only to create a space for young people to express themselves but also to inspire and an effective way of doing this is to bring in visiting guests to share their experiences and skills with our young people. For instance in the past we have been fortunate enough to have had people ranging from photographers to martial arts specialists, and musicians to Veterans with their assistance dogs.
